The British Longhair and British Shorthair are quite similar in temperament due to their shared ancestry. Both breeds are known for being easygoing, affectionate, and independent. While individual personalities can vary, it’s generally true that they are not typically lap cats and may not enjoy being picked up. They are more likely to prefer sitting next to their human companions rather than on their laps. However, as with any cat, there can be exceptions to these generalizations, and some British Longhairs and Shorthairs may enjoy being held or sitting on laps.
